We were mainly very excited about having a new home after 25 years in the old one.ħ/2 rolls around, we check out of our lovely hotel and wait around all day in our empty house. Okay, not what we had planned or been told initially, but we'll have to manage. We confirmed with PackRat over web chat that our container would be delivered on 7/2. We had paid for expedited shipping ($100/day each day early, so 5 days early is $500 extra on top of roughly $4K). We anticipated our container arriving on 7/1, the latest. Once we hit West Palm Beach on 6/27, we stayed in a nice, large hotel room so we could hang out with our pets before moving into our new home.Ĭlosing was smooth and successful. We decided to drive about 6-8 hours each stretch, as we had time to kill before our closing date on 6/29. Our pets came with us of course, a hamster and a cockatiel. We broke up our trips into 3 stops (Maryland, North Carolina, and Georgia). Not horrendous, at least they came that day as promised.

The full PackRat sat there until almost 10pm and blocked their moving truck. Our buyers came to move in within minutes us leaving. The empty PackRat arrived first thing on 6/21. Decided to go with a 8x8 foot container with PackRat, what's really the difference? We had no idea what was going to happen. We initially wanted a POD but they were all sold out in our timeframe, as there is this moving frenzy post-quarantine with the hot housing market. We were not going to have movers, as we are downsizing and in good health.
